Local PDF Tools processes your documents entirely inside your browser. Your files — and everything inside them — are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored anywhere. Separately, if you agree via the on-screen banner, we use Google Analytics to see how the site and app are used. It never sees your files.
Every operation — reading a PDF, rendering page thumbnails, merging, splitting, rotating, exporting, building a PDF from images — runs locally in a background worker on your device. The contents of your files are never sent over the network, to us or to anyone else. There is no processing server. Nothing about your documents is logged or retained; when you close the tab, the files and results are gone.
The app keeps a small amount of information in your browser's localStorage, on your machine only:
This data never leaves your device except for the license key, which is checked against our server as described below. Clearing your browser's site data removes it (and, for the consent choice, brings the banner back).
In connection with payment and licensing:
Separately, only if you click “Accept” on the cookie banner: Google Analytics, as described in “Analytics” below. If you never start a purchase and decline (or ignore) the analytics banner, the app makes no network requests at all — the free trial runs fully offline.
This site and the app use Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit, which pages or screens they reach, and — only after you agree — nothing more specific than that right now. It loads and runs only after you click “Accept” on the consent banner shown on your first visit; click “Decline”, or ignore the banner, and no Google Analytics script ever loads and no request to Google is ever made. Consent is stored in your browser (localStorage, key lpt:consent), shared by this site and the app since they're the same origin — accept or decline once and you won't be asked again on the other. Currently this collects only the fact that a visit happened (page views); a near-term update will add which type of PDF operation you used (merge, split, sign, …) and the fact that a purchase happened, still never anything about the files themselves.
What Google Analytics never sees, under any circumstances: file names, file contents, page text, images, signatures, or anything else from a document you open in the app. Nothing about your files ever reaches Google, or anyone else — that boundary doesn't change because you accepted analytics.
We've also configured Analytics with allow_google_signals: false, which turns off Google's cross-device/advertising features for our property.
To change your mind: clear this site's data in your browser (Settings → Privacy → Site data, or similar, for local-pdf-tools.com) — that erases the stored choice and the banner will ask again on your next visit. See Google's Privacy Policy for how Google itself handles Analytics data.
For each purchase we keep: your email address, your license key, Stripe customer and session identifiers, the license status (active or refunded), and the dates of purchase and any refund. We keep these records for as long as the license exists, so that Pro access and refunds can be honoured. To have your purchase record deleted, email us — note that this also deactivates the license.
We do not run advertising or tracking pixels, and we don't use any third-party cookies beyond what Google Analytics itself sets once you've accepted it.
The app stores your trial start date and, after purchase, your license key in your browser's localStorage (see “What is stored on your device” above). It does not read your browsing history, other tabs or sites, or any files beyond the ones you explicitly open in it.
This site and the app at /app are the same static pages hosted on Cloudflare Pages, on the same domain; all PDF processing happens in your browser. Neither sets a cookie or runs Google Analytics unless you've accepted the consent banner (see “Analytics” above) — that choice, once made, applies to both. Cloudflare may record standard request logs (such as IP address and user agent) for security and abuse prevention, as described in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
Local PDF Tools is a professional utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
