Privacy Policy

Local PDF Tools processes your documents entirely inside your browser. Your files are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored anywhere. The only data we hold is the email address and payment fact for people who buy a license.

Your documents and images

Every operation — reading a PDF, rendering page thumbnails, merging, splitting, rotating, exporting, building a PDF from images — runs locally in a background worker on your device. The contents of your files are never sent over the network, to us or to anyone else. There is no processing server. Nothing about your documents is logged or retained; when you close the tab, the files and results are gone.

What is stored on your device

The app keeps a small amount of information in your browser's localStorage, on your machine only:

the date your free trial started;
your license status (trial or pro) and, after purchase, your license key;
timestamps used to decide when to re-check your license and to prevent trial abuse via clock changes.

This data never leaves your device except for the license key, which is checked against our server as described below. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.

What is sent outside your browser, and when

Only in connection with payment and licensing, and only the following:

When you buy a license: you are taken to Stripe Checkout to pay. Stripe processes the transaction; card details are entered on Stripe's own secure checkout and are never seen by us. After payment, we store your email address, a generated license key, and Stripe payment identifiers in our own database (Cloudflare D1). We do not store card data.
License key email: we send your license key to your email address using Resend, our transactional email provider. The same happens when you use “Restore” with your purchase email.
License re-check: while you are online, at most once per day, the app asks our server whether your license key is still active, so Pro access stays in sync across your browsers and a refund can take effect. This request contains your license key and no information about your files.

If you never start a purchase, the app makes no network requests at all — the 7-day trial runs fully offline.

What we keep, and for how long

For each purchase we keep: your email address, your license key, Stripe customer and session identifiers, the license status (active or refunded), and the dates of purchase and any refund. We keep these records for as long as the license exists, so that Pro access and refunds can be honoured. To have your purchase record deleted, email us — note that this also deactivates the license.

Third-party services

Stripe — payment processor. See the Stripe Privacy Policy.
Resend — sends the license-key email. See the Resend Privacy Policy.
Cloudflare — hosts the site and the app, runs the licensing API, and stores the license database. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

We do not use analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, or third-party cookies anywhere — on this site or in the app.

Storage the app uses

The app stores your trial start date and, after purchase, your license key in your browser's localStorage (see “What is stored on your device” above). It does not read your browsing history, other tabs or sites, or any files beyond the ones you explicitly open in it.

This website and the app

This site and the app at /app are the same static pages hosted on Cloudflare Pages; all PDF processing happens in your browser. They set no cookies and run no analytics. Cloudflare may record standard request logs (such as IP address and user agent) for security and abuse prevention, as described in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

Children

Local PDF Tools is a professional utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above will change and the new version will be posted on this page.
